ANALYSIS OF A POPULATION PYRAMID

A population pyramid is a traditional way of visualizing and explaining the age structure of a society. It is a graph that shows the structure of a society by sex and age at a give time and place.
The pyramid we are analyzing shows the demographic structure of Afghanistan in 2012

Observing the sex we can say that there are more men than women because of the genetics and lifestyle. Sex ratio matches at the birth rate ( 0-4 of age). Wghen loocking at the graph it is clear that women have a higher life expentancy because of genetics, women live more and because of the wars, hard works of men etc.

With regard to the age structure of the pyramid we can say that population were most young people. The shape of the pyramid shows that there´s a high birth rate and a falling death rate, what means, a short life expectancy.

The age group with a larger number of people is 0-4 of age, what means there is a uncontrolled birth of kids.
There is a notch in the 1993 generation related to the wars in that country.
The range of 15-19 interval shows us a bump due to the postwar baby boom.

There is a notch in the 2003 generation related to the terrorist atacks that occured in Afganistan in those years.

Among the measures that can be applied to deal with high birth rates ang high death rates we propose the investimentsin heath care, and contraceptives methods.

According to the data shown, we can predict that the demographic evolution of Afghanistan is a slightly longer life expectancy, the developments in Afghanitan will be a slow natural incease.
